Sheraton, Thomas
(1751, Stockton-on-Tees, Durham, Inglaterra–22 oct. 1806, Londres).

Ebanista británico. Uno de los principales exponentes del neoclasicismo, dio su nombre a un estilo de mobiliario caracterizado por el refinamiento sólido y femenino del georgiano tardío y probablemente se convirtió en la fuente de inspiración más poderosa del mobiliario de fines del s. XVIII. Su obra en cuatro partes Álbum de dibujos del ebanista y del tapicero (1791) ejerció gran influencia sobre el diseño británico y estadounidense. Sheraton poseía una aproximación natural al diseño contemporáneo: empleó la madera sin adornos, en lugar de cubrirla con artificios como el dorado o el uso excesivo de molduras de similor.
